Brought for big sis, she couldn’t work the stick (stiff/difficult). My youngest daughter (age 20) had no issues playing the games/love it.What kid during the early 80's *didn't* love Atari video games? The Atari 2600 was my very first video game system, and I must've logged *thousands* of hours playing it. Although my old Atari system is long gone, I've never forgotten it or the games. That's why I practically jumped for joy when I saw this goodie at the toy store recently---the Atari Classics 10-In-1 Game System, put out by Jakks Pacific Inc. It's a retro Atari joystick with 10 classic Atari games built right into the joystick, including old favorites like Adventure, Asteroids, Missile Command, Centipede and Yar's Revenge. Just pop in 4 AA-batteries into the joystick, plug it into your TV, and off you go! I agree that the Atari games on this joystick are simply detailed replicas, NOT the originals, and the sound effects are different. But, in my opinion, the games still look, play, and feel pretty darn close to the originals. They're a whole lot of fun, and they do make me nostalgic for my old Atari 2600. Just holding this Atari joystick in my hand makes me feel like a kid again! As for the replication and the different sound effects, I've had no problem getting used to them. Certainly Atari gave Jakks Pacific their permission to replicate these games, so it's not like this is a rip-off job. Consider it an upgrade if you will, a polishing-up of these 20 year-old games for the 21st century. Plus, you can't beat the affordable price or the convienient portability. The Atari Classics 10-In-1 Game System is a terrific stroll down Atari Memory Lane, and I hope that there will be more retro Atari joystick systems with different games released in the future. If you love classic Atari video games, this little retro joystick will provide you with hours of entertainment, just like your old Atari system did in the good old days. A definite must-buy!It says Atari right on the joystick, but the Adventure game is not the real game. The sounds are different, the dragon colors are different, and the maze inside the black castle is different. It's very close, but it's not the real game. I was disappointed because I bought this for that game alone. The other games might be good knock offs, I can't tell as much with those. Also, the games that really require a paddle, like Circus Atari, function horribly with the joystick. Terrible reaction time. Almost unplayable. The Atari plug-n-play 10 in 1 joystick is a wonderfully portable time machine. From a time when games were more of a novelty than anything else. This item near faithfully captures the experience and puts it in the palm of your hand. There are a few slight glitches in some games, but they're so slight, you may not even notice them.I myself found this particular used 10 in 1 to be in great condition. Although the AV cord was a bit twisty I used a wrapping teqnique to straighten it as well as possible, and it looks nice. The joystick takes a bit of getting used to, but once you get a feel for the perfect amount of force to impose upon it, it is a rewarding gaming experience. We bought the Atari games for our 5 year old son's birthday and although he enjoys the games, the joystick is very tight. It isn't as easy to control as I would have hoped so he can't control where it goes so ends up crashing most of the time. My husband & I enjoy the games but also find it harder to play than it should be. An easier joystick would make the games fantastic and a real blast from the past!Ok so to let you know i'm just a kid and this is my first atari and i love it but some games will eventually get boring like adventure. There are no other levels in adventure. In centipede games can go on forever its different every tithe score is different every time its just a wonderful little toy the highest price range i would pay for it is $15-20$.Joy stick is very stiff making control difficult. There is also a bit of a delay between moving the stick and the on screen reaction. This makes playing games like Pong where speed and accuracy are necessary almost impossible. This was bought as a gift for my father in law, and he politely played without complaint for about 10 minutes even though he was doing terribly. I tried it out and didnt do much better, and honestly it was due to the poor controls. We both agreed it was garbage and now I owe him a better gift.I love the way it looks and love the classic games. The reason I gave it four stars was because it is hard to move the joystick when you first get it. But after a while it loosened up and works great.
