These Carcassonne tile holders will hold your tiles in place in a perfect grid! Perfect for when you need to move the map if it is moving in a particular direction or if you bump the table. The tile holders are also compatible with the Carcassonne expansions!Each tile holder holds a 4 x 4 grid of tiles, holding up to 16 tiles each so that you spend less time putting the grid together and more time playing. The number of tile holders that you need for a game varies depending on how many expansions you have.For the base game with the river expansion, we found that a set of 16 tile holders gave a healthy amount of space. This gives you a 16 x 16 total grid size, holding up to 256 tiles! If you have additional expansions like the Carcassonne Big Box edition or others, you will need additional grids since they add more tiles to the game.We also have adapters for special tiles from the Carcassonne expansion packs:Wheel of Fortune: A special 4 x 4 grid piece to hold the wheel of fortune in placeHills & Sheep: Hill adapters to lock them securely in place on the grid. Please note that this comes with 8 hill caps, since the expansion pack includes 8 hills. We recommend HILL HOLDER TYPE B since it gives you the most flexibility! HILL HOLDER TYPE A: Holds two tiles (hill piece and sacrificial tile) stacked on top of each other.HILL HOLDER TYPE B: Has a thicker base so that you only need to place the hill piece down. Since you no longer need to place the sacrificial tiles underneath the hill, you can either play with an additional 8 tiles, or put 8 tiles back into the box.
